Mission and Organization
SPARK’s mission is to provide lifelong learning opportunities through intellectually stimulating cultural and social experiences which enhance the quality of life for SPARK members.
SPARK (Senior Peers Actively Renewing Knowledge) is a non-profit membership-based organization. SPARK is a tax exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; 43-1859626.
SPARK is a volunteer-run organization that relies on its members for its continued success and growth. SPARK employs a part-time office coordinator and bookkeeper, but program leadership and implementation of the mission, goals, and objectives of the organization are carried out by the membership.
Classes are held four quarters a year, two hours a week for two to six weeks. The SPARK Office and classrooms are located at 4825 Troost, Room 113 on the UMKC campus.
SPARK is an affiliate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, supported by the intellectual, cultural, and administrative resources of the University.
